Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 1 July 2024

1. Introduction

Welcome to the website for Clive Flood Advisory Services Ltd (CFAS) ("we", "our" or "us"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you visit our website, interact with our content, or sign up for our services.

We are the data controller for the information described in this policy. You can contact us at CF@cliveflood.co.uk

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information.

A. Personal information you provide

We collect personal information when you voluntarily provide it, including when you:

  • Sign up for a lead magnet (for example eBooks, free resources, newsletters)

  • Book a discovery call

  • Contact us via forms or email

This information may include:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Company name

  • Any other details you provide in your message

B. Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we may collect certain information automatically, including:

  • IP address

  • Browser type and version

  • Pages visited and time spent on the site

  • Device information

  • Referral sources

  • How you interact with our pages — clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and navigation between pages

The last of these is collected using Microsoft Clarity, a behavioural analytics service. Clarity combines these interactions into anonymised heatmaps and session recordings, which show us where visitors get stuck or give up. We use it to make the site clearer, not to identify individuals.

Text you enter into forms is masked before it leaves your browser, so we never see what you typed in a message or contact field through Clarity.

We only load Clarity, and the other non-essential analytics described here, where you have given consent. See section 3.

3. Cookies and Consent

We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:

  • Essential cookies keep the site working — page navigation, form submission and security. These are necessary for the site to function and do not require your consent.

  • Analytics cookies, including those set by Microsoft Clarity, help us understand how the site is used. These are not essential, and we only set them where you have given consent through our cookie banner.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie preferences on our site. Withdrawing consent stops any further collection; it does not affect data collected before you withdrew it.

Our lawful basis for analytics is your consent. Our lawful basis for responding to enquiries and providing services you have asked for is legitimate interests, or the performance of a contract where one exists.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide you with relevant content, resources and updates

  • Respond to enquiries and support requests

  • Send marketing emails and newsletters, only where you have opted in

  • Understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve its performance, clarity and usefulness

That last purpose is where behavioural analytics comes in. We look at aggregated patterns and, occasionally, individual recordings — to see, for example, whether people can find the booking page. We do not use this to build profiles of individuals or to target advertising.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to third parties.

5. How We Protect Your Information

We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

How long we keep it. Enquiry and contact details are kept for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.

Behavioural data held in Microsoft Clarity is retained on Microsoft's schedule, which we cannot change. Session recordings are kept for 30 days from the time of recording. A small, randomly selected sample of recordings, and any recording we mark for later review, are kept for up to 9 months. Aggregated heatmap data is available for up to 9 months.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access and update — you can request a copy of the data we hold about you and ask us to correct it

  • Withdraw consent — you can withdraw consent for analytics at any time via our cookie preferences

  • Opt out — you can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message

  • Deletion — you may ask us to delete your personal data, subject to any legal obligations. Behavioural analytics data is not linked to your name or contact details, so we cannot isolate an individual visitor's session within it; that data deletes automatically on the schedule in section 5

  • Object or restrict — you may object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing

  • Portability — you may ask for the data you provided to us in a portable format

To exercise any of these, contact us at CF@cliveflood.co.uk

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Microsoft. Microsoft Clarity is provided by Microsoft Corporation, which processes the data described above as a separate data controller in line with its own privacy statement, available at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement

Wix. Our website is hosted by Wix, which processes technical data such as IP addresses as part of delivering and securing the site.

Our website may also contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their own policies.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
